I have an 8 year old that has played up on a 9U team and pitched some when he was league age 7. I have since brought him back to his rcorrect age group, and we are going through 9U baseball again. My 8 year old can throw fairly hard, and has been clocked in the cage at a high of 55 mph. However, i can see a dramatic difference in game time situations, and althoug he has not been clocked during a game, I would imagine he is throwing in the low 40's. How can you get a kid to throw to their full potential in a game situation? Any ideas, suggestions, or advice?

Thanks!

wow

I have the exact problem. kid played 9u at 7 and pitched some. think to early and ruined his confidence. he has a pitching coach now and throws 66. i am finally getting him in low 50s in game but took lot of work on mental side. he still slows when he starts loosing control. Some kids are afraid of hitting the batter also. if that the case you might try practicing him with an adult standing at the plate.

We played in 2 different leagues and the closer he pitches from the slower he throws. think he may worry a little about hitting somebody

If you figure out something that really works let me know.
