Mr. Ellis, can you explain to me wath a legion baseball team is? As I am not so familiar with the American baseball system.

Played for John Stevenson and the El Segundo American Legion team. This was my contact with Coach Stevenson. He passed away at 76 on January 11, 2010 as the winningest high school baseball coach in California history. During his 50-year coaching tenure with the Eagles - the longest in South Bay history - he compiled a record of 1,059-419 and led his teams to seven CIF championships.

Even for a summer, I'm proud to say I played for a coaching legend.

American Legion Baseball is played as a summer baseball program similar to little league. The American Legion is a veterans organization that provides aid to American military veterans. American Legion Baseball was introduced by the organization in 1926. For more of the history, visit this page: http://www.legion.org/baseball/history
