He cheated, and that was the wrong thing to do, however, after all that he gave to the game, he deserves a little back. Not saying that if you do something good than you should get away with anything but he spent a good length of his life in baseball only to have it taken away because he slipped.
Since when is it right to ban for gambling and merely suspend for steroids? Since when did gambling become the issue that matters? Gambling is something that makes an impact but cheating is unfairly making an impact. I think that it is necessary to finally make some fair rules punishments instead of doing whatever "seems best" at the time. No more randomly punishing and sparing.
The fans only reacted to the shock of what he did to this day forsake his career as if he did absolutely nothing for America. He did all that he possibly could! He spent his prime years in the MLB serving the fans of baseball with excitement and passion. He never realized that he was hurting the game when he gambled and he regrets doing what he did for sure. Yes, he lied and attempted to cheat all of us but at least he finally got the guts to tell 45,000,000,000+ people that he was wrong. Try it sometime why don't yah?
I feel sorry for how everyone reacted to what had happened but I especially feel sorry for Rose as he knows that he could have changed everything by not doing what he did.
